Don't ever tell me what I can't draw!

"You see this little hole? This moth's just about to emerge. It's in there right now, struggling. It's digging it's way through the thick hide of the cocoon. Now, I could help it - take my knife, gently widen the opening, and the moth would be free - but it would be too weak to survive. Struggle is nature's way of strengthening it."
-John Locke

I think I'm going to try and do more of the cast...

Caveman-Cyborg

Half Caveman! Half Cyborg!! ALL CAVEMAN-CYBORG!!!

DEADLINES

When I asked the guys what the theme was last night, the consensus was a resounding "Finish what we're behind on"! Thank God I'm not the only one who feels that way, and I hope for readers sake that contractual obligations will allow them to post the bluelines and pencil sketches that were produced in dim-lit hours.
We were encouraged by John to produce classic sci-fi art, which always makes me think of Virgil Finlay...
but I ended up sketching B Clay Moore's National in sharpie over my Adobe layout. I split the difference between the Latour and Perez versions.

under the influence

Frazetta's was the work that first made me realize there was such a thing as "an artist".  I knew there was such a thing as "artists" but suddenly there was this one guy whose work I could immediately recognize.  Maybe it was the supple... lines... he drew. The paintings looked effortless and the pen & ink drawings were mere sketches, but each conveyed action, emotion, story... and I realize my sketch doesn't have those things. But I was there, and I did drink, and I did draw, and when I got home I did dig out my ICON book and marvel at the work of a genuine master as if I was 12 again. Thanks for the inspiration, guys.

Dealing some death

I thought about not posting this. Mike gets scared easily and no one wants to see him cry.

Frazetta has and will always be a huge influence on me, even if you can't see it. I wish I could've met him when he was still hanging around his museum. I'll miss the guy.
RIP Frank

Frazetttttaaaaaa!

I guess I'm the only guy that posts on this now. The others are chicken. Chicken and they're drawings are terrible. Why else would they be afraid to post? Oh well. I guess I'll be the only one to be awesome.

This week was influenced by Frank Frazetta as he has already influenced all with his badassery.

MEEEETTTAAAALLLLL!

Been a while. Forgot to post stuff. So prepare for a lot of stuff. Last night was Star Wars night. Here's some sketchy.
